Ghaziabad-Jewar RRTS: The Corridor That Connects NCR to Its New Airport

The Ghaziabad-Jewar RRTS corridor is set to become one of the most consequential infrastructure links in the National Capital Region, tying together Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida and the newly operational Jewar Airport on a single high-speed rail spine. Planned by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the line is a proposed 72 km semi-high-speed rail corridor with 12 stations planned to connect Ghaziabad, Greater Noida and Jewar Airport as part of Delhi's RRTS network. Its northern end will meet the existing Ghaziabad RRTS station on the Delhi-Meerut line, while the southern terminus will sit at Jewar International Airport, currently being built by Tata Projects for operator Flughafen Zurich AG.

The corridor is planned in two construction phases. The line is planned in two phases: Ghaziabad-Kasna with seven stations, and Kasna-Jewar Airport with four, threading the Yamuna Expressway industrial and institutional development. Along the way, the alignment is designed to pass through some of the region's fastest-changing pockets, cutting through corridors including Greater Noida West, Surajpur, Pari Chowk, and the developing YEIDA City, with key nodes at Siddharth Vihar, Char Murti Chowk, Knowledge Park, Kasna and Dankaur before entering the YEIDA sectors and finally the airport terminal.

On approvals, NCRTC's Detailed Project Report was submitted to YEIDA in April 2024, following in-principle approval from the Uttar Pradesh government in December 2023. The project hit a procedural hurdle when the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs directed in December 2025 that the alignment be reconsidered with Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi as the preferred starting point rather than Ghaziabad, prompting NCRTC to prepare a revised feasibility report. That uncertainty has since been resolved in favour of the original plan: YEIDA officials have confirmed that the Ghaziabad-Jewar rapid rail project will continue along the originally planned route, starting from the Ghaziabad RRTS station and extending through Greater Noida West up to Jewar. Construction is expected to begin between 2026 and 2027, with Phase 1 (Ghaziabad-Kasna) targeted for completion by 2027, though the full corridor's overall project deadline extends to 2041.

Once built, the line will not stand alone. It links directly to the Delhi-Meerut RRTS at Ghaziabad, stitching together a continuous rapid-transit spine that would eventually run from Modipuram in Meerut all the way to Jewar Airport. Separately, NCRTC has also proposed a Rs 15,000-crore RRTS line linking Gurugram and Faridabad with Noida and Greater Noida; that corridor is planned to merge with the Ghaziabad-Jewar line at Surajpur, further widening the airport's rail catchment across Haryana and western UP.

The urgency behind this corridor has grown sharper because the airport it serves is now a reality, not a plan on paper. Noida International Airport (IATA: DXN) was inaugurated on March 28, 2026, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with commercial flight operations commencing on June 15, 2026, as announced by operator Yamuna International Airport Private Limited. Yet at launch, the airport has no metro or RRTS connectivity, with all passenger access currently routed via the Yamuna Expressway and connecting roads only, underscoring exactly why the RRTS link matters for the region's daily commuters and long-term growth.

For homebuyers and investors, transit projects of this scale tend to reshape demand patterns well before the first train runs. Areas like Greater Noida West, Pari Chowk, and the YEIDA sectors have emerged as new investment hotspots, and the airport is expected to amplify this demand further as commercial hubs, retail zones, and residential clusters develop along the alignment. On the connectivity front, once operational, the broader RapidX network is expected to cut cross-city travel sharply: NCRTC's plans for the corridor project journeys of around 32 minutes on rapid rail services and 50 minutes on standard services between Ghaziabad and Noida airport, a dramatic improvement over current road-only access.
