Delhi-Panipat RRTS Utility Shifting Work Begins

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has awarded a contract worth ₹25.27 crore to M/s Creative Entrepreneurs LLP for the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, shifting, and modification of electrical utilities along the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal Namo Bharat corridor. The work covers the Bhalswa to Narela stretch and includes the dismantling and relocation of street lights infringing the corridor alignment, with the contract formally awarded on April 2, 2026, with a stipulated completion period of 365 days.

The 136.3-km corridor, estimated at ₹33,051 crore, will connect Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Panipat, with a further extension to Karnal in Haryana, and the Bhalswa–Narela stretch forms part of the initial Delhi section of this high-speed regional transit corridor. Designed for trains running at 180 kmph, the corridor with 17 stations will reduce travel time between Delhi and Panipat to under an hour.

The work is essential to clear the corridor for subsequent civil construction and is a prerequisite for initiating civil construction and must be executed with minimal disruption to traffic and daily life. The utility shifting work is a critical step expected to take a year before full-scale construction of stations and tracks begins.

NCRTC plans to float additional tenders in the coming months to allow diversion and enabling works to proceed simultaneously across different sections of the corridor. Transportation experts suggest that this high-speed connectivity will significantly impact real estate markets in Delhi-NCR, particularly in satellite towns along the route.

The move follows a November announcement by Union minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar that the Delhi–Panipat–Karnal corridor had received final approvals and construction would begin soon. This milestone marks the transition of the ambitious ₹36,000 crore infrastructure initiative from planning to active execution phase.
